New ruler pajama pants from memaw for the wee one. He lovingly counts the numbers up his leg when he wears them. It's the little things that make him so happy.
We hung a cedar bluebird house high up in the oak tree. It remains vacant but I am hoping we will have small occupants soon enough.
Each night I have been reading this The Good Life by the Nearings. It is such a blunt and functional read, not to mention very inspiring in a homesteading kind of way.
We recently made a visit to a local farm and I picked up this beautiful hen. She is a silver-laced Wyandotte, a nice round brown-egg layer. She has been christened Myrtle and seems happy with that moniker. I am awaiting her first egg like a kid on a Christmas morning. (warning: Gemini's like myself lack a good deal of patience)
She clucks softly as if talking to the bugs before eating them and walks with her head held high.
Her addition is due to the fact that I think Henrietta may actually be a Henry and if that is the case she will have to make a trip to my sil's farm. She or rather he will be quite happy there I am sure.
And at last a sad little note.
We are usually gathering delcious pecan's by this time and cracking them to eat or freeze for next year but it seems this crop is rotted.
I have gathered pecan's from two different trees in completely different locations and upon cracking open the hulls all of the meat is rotted, or squishy.
Very sad for us here. Wish me luck that I may find a great local tree to salvage our desire for pecan pie soon!
Oh and I think we might just get one of these for the Winter season.
