cotton crochet and Texas women...

Any soul over 60 in Texas who is female often knows how to crochet, if not she taught her daughter to crochet or crocheted as a child.

This is standard knowledge in Texas, repeating it to any Texan would be redundant and I apologize to any Texans reading this post for being so.

But, to enter a room of one of these talented female artisans and find a host of unimaginable afghans, ornate doilies and well-used pillows, is not a surprise in these parts.

With the heat in Texas crochet replaced knitting as the logical alternative. The open work designs provided air flow and the plentiful cotton in West Texas provided a year round alternative to wool for the climate.

So if you are not from Texas I will here introduce you to one of these women, named aptly enough Elizabeth.

Elizabeth is 78, lives in West Texas, and crochets extensively. She has funded entire family reunions with the proceeds from her afghans and she has been so kind to make these beautiful coaster sets for us.

I have posted the sets for sale for Elizabeth so that a wider audience may know her talents.

Each coaster measures a good 5x5 inches and is nice and thick as it is knit out of worsted cotton.

All proceeds will go to Elizabeth.

Each coaster set is $10.00 and shipping is free. If you are interested just shoot me an e-mail or leave a comment.

xo,

Amy
